Türkiye Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Junction Boxes

Imports from China will face duties of as much as 57.11 percent

Türkiye has completed an anti-dumping investigation into imports of junction boxes from China that began in May 2025.

According to a notice published by the Trade Ministry in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, the investigation concluded that the products were being imported into Türkiye at prices below their normal value, a practice known as dumping, and that the imports had caused injury to domestic producers.

As a result, imports from five companies will be subject to an anti-dumping duty equal to 38.23 percent of their CIF value — the price of the goods including cost, insurance and freight — while imports from other companies will face a duty of 57.11 percent. The measures will remain in effect for five years.

Imports of these products from China were already subject to customs duties ranging from 3.3 percent to 3.7 percent, as well as an additional customs duty of 15 percent.

Domestic Producers Lost Jobs and Market Share

A report released with the notice also detailed the findings of the investigation.

According to the report, dumping margins on the Chinese products ranged from 55 percent to 115 percent of their CIF value. Türkiye imported $29.9 million worth of the products in 2024, all of them from China.

Despite rising consumption in the Turkish market during the period under review, domestic producers lost market share, reduced employment and saw their cash flow turn negative.

The report found that pressure from lower-priced imports constrained domestic producers’ ability to raise prices and prevented them from earning what investigators considered a reasonable profit. During the investigation period, the producers’ market share fell 36 percent and employment declined 26 percent.

Using 2022 as a baseline of 100, the producers’ cash-flow indicator fell to minus 301 during the investigation period, while their per-unit profitability on total sales fell to minus 91.

The investigation was opened after a petition by Ekinler Endüstri A.Ş. and Hatko Teknik Donanımlar Mümessillik ve Ticaret A.Ş., with the support of Erc Sistem Elektrik Makine İml. Taah. ve Tic. A.Ş.
