Electric and Hybrid Cars Gain Market Share

Their combined market share rose 5.8 percentage points from the same period a year earlier

A total of 105,951 electric cars and 187,045 hybrid cars were sold in Türkiye during the first eight months of 2026.

According to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association, electric cars accounted for 18.8% of total sales, while hybrid cars accounted for 33.1%.

During the period, overall car sales fell 13.8% from a year earlier, while electric car sales declined 12.3%.

Hybrid car sales, however, rose 3.7%, driven by growth in the mild-hybrid segment.

The combined market share of electric and hybrid cars increased to 51.9%, from 46.1% in the same period a year earlier.

At the same time, combined sales, which totaled 301,275 vehicles in the same period last year, fell to 292,996 this year.
