Two Energy Storage Projects to Be Developed Under ESCO Model

YEO Teknoloji, Inavitas and Saves Enerji have signed an agreement to develop Türkiye’s first energy storage projects based on the energy service company, or ESCO, model and a build-operate-transfer structure.

According to a disclosure by YEO Teknoloji on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform, two energy storage projects owned by Saves Enerji A.Ş., with a combined capacity of 120 Megawatt-hours, will be developed under the model.

The projects will be carried out by Solesco3 Yenilenebilir Enerji A.Ş., a special-purpose company established for the investments. Solesco3 is 70 percent owned by CALL Enerji A.Ş., YEO Teknoloji’s renewable energy subsidiary, and 30 percent owned by Inavitas Enerji A.Ş., a technology partner of the company.

The investments will include an energy storage facility integrated with the Çamlıca Hydroelectric Power Plant, owned by Çamlıca Hidroelektrik A.Ş., a Saves Enerji subsidiary, and a stand-alone storage facility owned by Kayseri Müstakil Depolama A.Ş.

The agreement covers the financing of the projects and the turnkey installation of battery energy storage systems, high-voltage substations and grid-connection infrastructure.

The facilities are scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2027. Solesco3 Yenilenebilir Enerji A.Ş. will operate them for five years, after which ownership will be transferred to Saves Enerji.

The total expected investment, including financing costs, is estimated at approximately $40 million.

The battery energy storage systems will be manufactured by REAP Batarya Teknolojileri A.Ş., a YEO Teknoloji subsidiary. Inavitas Enerji A.Ş. will provide the power conversion system, energy management system and an artificial intelligence-based energy trading platform.
