Garanti BBVA Issues $30 Million Green Bond
Garanti BBVA said it had completed a sustainable bond issuance focused on climate adaptation and resilience.
According to the bank, the $30 million bond was issued on June 29, 2026, with a maturity of 371 days.
Garanti BBVA plans to use the proceeds to finance areas including climate-resilient water infrastructure and water management projects; flood prevention and stormwater management systems; public infrastructure designed to withstand climate-related and natural disasters; post-disaster reconstruction; resilient urban renewal and infrastructure reinforcement; emergency preparedness and early-warning systems; and the digitalization and modernization of water utilities and other critical infrastructure.
Garanti BBVA applied to Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board in early February for authorization to issue up to $2 billion in green or sustainable bonds and other financing instruments. The board said in its March 4, 2026, bulletin that the application had been approved.
