Türkiye to develop national wetlands strategy

Türkiye will develop a National Wetlands Strategy to protect wetlands across the country.

Under Article 39/B, added to the Regulation on the Protection of Wetlands, the strategy will be developed in accordance with the Ramsar Strategic Plan.

The strategy will cover a 10-year period. At the end of that period, it will be reviewed and renewed.

The strategy will be designed and implemented as an integrated framework encompassing ideal objectives, implementation targets, activities and action plans.

Institutions and organizations represented on the National Wetlands Commission, as well as other stakeholders designated by the General Directorate, will participate in preparing the strategy. It will take effect upon approval by the National Commission.
