Yapı Kredi Leasing Secures Funding for Green and Blue Investments
The Asian Development Bank, or ADB, and Yapı Kredi Leasing have signed a $50 million financing agreement.
In a statement, the ADB said the deal marked its first transaction in Türkiye’s financial leasing sector.
According to the statement, Yapı Kredi Leasing will use the financing to support investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and green industry through sustainable leasing activities.
Financing for the energy sector may be used for equipment or facilities related to solar, wind, or geothermal energy projects, as well as electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. It may also finance the purchase of energy-efficient industrial equipment, particularly in the textile industry.
About 15 percent of the financing will be allocated to “blue leasing” portfolios, including the production of plastic packaging from biodegradable materials, fishing equipment, plastic recycling, and wastewater treatment facilities.
