The application process for CORSIA authorization certificates begins

The Presidency for Climate Change has published a regulation titled “Procedures and Principles Regarding the Authorization of Carbon Credits Under CORSIA.”

The regulation sets forth the procedures and principles governing the application, evaluation, and approval stages of the authorization process required for carbon credits generated from greenhouse gas emission reduction and removal projects carried out within the borders of the Republic of Türkiye to be used under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The Presidency’s announcement stated that applications for authorization certificates must be submitted to the Climate Change Presidency by the end of business hours on July 31, 2026, via both email and official correspondence.

Following the evaluation of the applications, the Presidency will notify eligible applicants and, upon payment of the contribution fee—the amount of which will be announced separately at a later date—will issue an “Authorization Certificate” to the applicants.

Furthermore, the statement noted that the scope of the carbon credits covered by the applications is limited to CORSIA-eligible emission reduction units.
