Temporary Tariff Exemption Introduced for LFP Batteries
Additional customs duty suspended through Dec. 31, 2026
11 July 2026
A presidential decree published in the July 11, 2026 edition of the Official Gazette introduced a limited, temporary tariff exemption for lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, batteries.
Under the decree, products classified under customs code 8507.60.00.00.21 — lithium iron phosphate batteries with a voltage not exceeding 4.9 volts — will be subject to an additional customs duty of zero percent through Dec. 31, 2026.
A decree on state support for investments, published in the Official Gazette on May 30, 2025, had previously abolished the additional customs-duty exemption for imports of lithium-based batteries classified under customs code 8506.60. Imports subsequently became subject to a 30 percent tariff.
