Girişim Elektrik Signs Contract for Solar Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Girişim Elektrik has signed a contract with Elektroprivreda BiH, or EPBiH, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s public electric utility, to build what will be the country’s first large-scale solar power project.

According to a statement from EPBiH, the agreement was signed by Sanel Buljubašić, the utility’s general manager; Harun Gadžo, its executive director for capital investments; and Can Keleş, Girişim Elektrik’s director of international business development.

The project will consist of two solar power plants, Gračanica 1 and Gračanica 2, with a combined installed capacity of 50 Megawatts.
The plants will be built on the site of the disused Gračanica coal mine in the municipality of Bugojno in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Financing for the project will be provided in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, or EBRD, and UniCredit Bank d.d. Mostar.

Buljubašić said the project was particularly significant because it would redevelop land previously used for mining, bringing together the goals of a just energy transition, sustainable development and responsible land management.

Contract Valued at About 1.5 Billion Lira

In a separate filing with Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform, Girişim Elektrik said the contract was worth €26.87 million, excluding value-added tax and other taxes, equivalent to about 1.52 billion Turkish lira at current exchange rates.

The company also said that distribution transformers, switchgear, medium-voltage switching equipment and structural systems for the project would be supplied by Europower Enerji A.Ş., while power transformers would be supplied by Europower World A.Ş.
