Efor Holding Takes Over Gelgit Wind Power Project
Efor Holding said it has taken over the Gelgit Wind Power Plant project.
The plant, located within the Silivri and Çatalca districts of Istanbul, has a capacity of 49.5 MWe. Its capacity rights were awarded in a capacity allocation auction held by the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation, or TEİAŞ, on Dec. 25, 2017.
The auction, held for 50 Megawatts of capacity in the Istanbul region, was won by Gelgit Yenilenebilir Enerji ve Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., an Özgül Holding group company, with a bid of minus 1.71 U.S. cents per Kilowatt-hour.
Efor Holding signed a turbine supply agreement with Nordex Türkiye in June last year for the turbines to be used in the project.
According to a statement from Efor Holding, Gelgit is the first project in the company’s 717-Megawatt energy portfolio and also marks its first investment in wind power.
According to data from the Turkish Wind Energy Association, the company had 351.4 Megawatts of wind power projects under construction as of the first half of 2026.
